The Railyard District
- is a 50-acre property located near the heart of downtown. The property was the original terminus
of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe (AT&SF) Railroad line and served as the freight yards for the former Denver
and Rio Grande Western and New Mexico Central Railways. The City is committed to revitalizing the area, having purchased
it in 1995. The Metropolitan Redevelopment Plan calls for a sequence
of parks, trails and public spaces as the connecting elements in a pedestrian precinct.
